During Oklahoma’s 50th Anniversary on June 15, 1957, a new gold and white 1957 Plymouth Belvedere Sport Coupe was buried in a time capsule in downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma. The car is buried under the sidewalk in front of the Tulsa County Courthouse, just waiting to be unearthed on June 15, 2007 — the state’s centennial anniversary.

The citizens of Tulsa are no doubt excited over seeing the classic car come back to life again, taking them back to a time when their grandparents were youngsters in the midst of such things as the beginning of the “Space Race”, to a time when Elvis was gaining notoriety, to a time when a Cold War on the rise, among others.

According to event chairman Lewis Roberts Jr., the Plymouth was chosen because it was “an advanced product of American industrial ingenuity with the kind of lasting appeal that will still be in style 50 years from now.”

As to what was buried with the car – according to the event’s own website, www.buriedcar.com, the contents of a women’s purse, including bobby pins, a bottle of tranquilizers, cigarettes and an unpaid parking ticket, were added to the glove compartment of the car shortly before it was sealed under the concrete sidewalk.

Other items included in the time capsule were:

•	10 gallons of gasoline and 5 quarts of oil

•	A Douglas Aircraft Co. aerial map of airport facilities and legend

•	Statement from Tulsa council of Churches and prayer for greatest good next 50 years a recently completed history of churches in Tulsa and a directory of the present churches

•	Statement from board of education – historical data related to 50 years of education in Tulsa and copies of “School Life” all-high school publication issued by Tulsa high schools each month

•	Statements from Mayor and Chamber of Commerce officials

•	Flags which have been flown over the national capitol, state capitol and in the county and city

•	Other aerial photos of the area

•	Statement from Tulsa Trades and Labor Council

•	Statements from all former mayors of the city – their record of service and civic accomplishments in the city, state and nationally.

Will the Plymouth, after 50 years underground, still start when its key is turned come June this year? Well hopefully its Plymouth parts will still be in excellent condition enough to put up a great show for all Tulsa citizens.

Plymouth was a marque of automobile based in the United States, marketed by the Chrysler Corporation and DaimlerChrysler from 1928 to 2001.

Aussies who are car lovers and followers would surely be extremely excited about this new piece of news. The Cannonball Run which is the largest car rally the world over would soon be coming to the continent. But not quite soon enough. There would be some more months to go before they would be able to participate and be part of that event.

You see, Cannonball Run would be shooting towards Australia still on the fifth month of next year. But it would indeed be a great event for many car enthusiasts and fanatics of vehicles and racing would surely be having a grand time here. It would also be a chance for these people to meet other fanatics like themselves as well as rub elbows with some of the famous racers and auto experts. And if you are asking if this might also be a good place to shop around for Acura performance parts, well, maybe not. But it would be a good way to learn about vehicles and look for the kind of parts that you would like your own vehicle to bear.

It would be the Cannonball World Events who would be bringing such a grand auto activity to the continent. Cannonball World Events is a company which is based in London. It is run by Tim “Maverick” Porter, the managing director for the Cannonball Run World Events, and is also one of the automobile world’s popular icons for he is known as a car aficionado and a really grand driver. In fact, he has already gained great popularity throughout the European continent where he is known as a really infamous bad boy when it comes to driving.

Porter emphasizes, “Safety is paramount to this event and in the previous six years and eight major events held in Europe we have never had a serious accident and we believe this is due to the way we police our own event with very strict rules. Drivers must complete the course with an average speed at or below the national speed limit rather than racing to be the first car to arrive.” As per the event, he even further adds, “This event is based on the success of our Cannonball Run Europe events which embody the spirit of the original US Cannonball Run event and the 1981 movie.”

The Audi R10 TDI has remained to be the sports car to beat after an impressive performance during the 12 Hours of Sebring (USA). Despite the numerous new regulations set for the race, the Audi AG—luxury unit of Volkswagen and recipient of quality Volkswagen rotors —have made quite a start into the 2007 motorsport season with its innovative diesel sports car and successful dress rehearsal for the Le Mans 24 Hours scheduled on June 16 and 17. The victory at the 12 Hours of Sebring was the eighth victory received by Audi for Volkswagen.

The Audi R10 TDI has remained unbeaten in its ninth consecutive race and had to start with only 10 percent smaller fuel tank which means 81 liters instead of 90 liters. The Audi has to stop for refueling five laps earlier that its competitors. Despite the prowess show by the Audi R10 TDI during the race, a newcomer has been able to take on the lead on various occasions with its 150 kg lighter LM P2 cars. And it was only second to last hour that Frank Biela (Germany), Emanuele Pirro (Italy) and Marco Werner (Germany) were able to take the lead in the most exciting and thrilling competitive sports car race ever witnessed. Frank Biela was able to equal Tom Kirstensen’s record of four overall Sebring victories.

The Audi R10 TDI ran without experiencing any technical problem for the entire generation of the 12 Hours of Sebring despite the demanding track. The only unscheduled pit stop was caused by a puncture in the second hour costing the winning car two laps plus two-time penalties and a stop-and-go penalty but in the end the Audi team won the race.

The updated engine of the Audi R10 TDI featured more compact diesel particle filters from Dow Automotive, together with some further enhanced suspension, the latest generation of Michelin tires and the weight-optimized transmission of the R10 TDI which worked flawlessly during the Le Mans dress rehearsal.

Unfortunately, the Sebring week did not prove to be as great for the second Audi Team with the defending champions of the American Le Mans Series, Dindo Capello (Italy) and Allan McNish (Scotland) plus Le Mans record winner Tom Kirstensen (Denmark). An accident happen during the Thursday evening’s night practice session, the R10 TDI had to be completely rebuilt over night. And despite the lack of time to set up the car completely, Capello together with McNIsh and Kirstensen were able to lead the race before the starter and the battery had to be changed twice. The Audi team finished fourth overall and second in the LM P1 class garnering high points.

The Results at the 12 Hours of Sebring

1 Biela/Pirro/Werner (Audi R10 TDI) 364 laps in 12h 01n 14.838s

2 Herta/Franchitti/Kanaan (Acura/Honda) – 6 laps

3 Fernandez/Diaz/Martinez (Lola-Acura/Honda) – 8 laps

4 Capello/Kristensen/McNish (Audi R10 TDI) – 11 laps

5 Dumas/Bernhard/Castroneves (Porsche) – 13 laps

6 Brabham/Johansson/Dayton (Acura/Honda) – 18 laps

7 Beretta/Gavin/Papis (Chevrolet) – 23 laps

8 O’Connell/Magnussen/Fellows (Chevrolet) – 23 laps

9 Wallace/Leitzinger/Lally (porsche) – 24 laps

10 Dyson/Smith (Porsche) – 31 laps

Famous Quotes after the Race

•	Dr. Wolfgang Ulrich (Head of Audi Motorsport): “The team really has earned this victory. It has worked hard for it. We are happy winning Sebring another time and are unbeaten at Sebring since 2000. But we’ve also seen today how close it is now between the LM P1 and LM P2 cars. My fear that the two categories have been put together too closely, have been proved by today’s race.”

•	Frank Biela (Audi R10 TDI #2): “Of course it’s nice to equal Tom Kristensen’s Sebring record. I’m very pleased. After the problem in the warm-up and the puncture at the beginning of the race I was not really expecting the victory anymore. It’s just superb that it ended this way.”

•	Emanuele Pirro (Audi R10 TDI #2): “It’s been a great race for us. We had quite a few problems at the start of the race and were almost two laps behind. But in such long races you should never give up. In the end of the day the fastest and strongest car won. It was a nice win for us and a great start of the season. It was a race full of mechanical problems for everybody. But our car was really strong throughout the race.”

•	Marco Werner (Audi R10 TDI #2): “I’m absolutely happy despite the day did not start too good in the warm-up. Also the beginning of the race was not the best with the puncture and the penalties in pit lane. But the car ran perfectly in the race – it’s simply an Audi, and you can rely on that. The race was fun although the last stint was very long. I was thinking about the brakes from time to time, but most of the time about the next restroom…”

•	Dindo Capello (Audi R10 TDI #1): “It was a shame to effectively be out of contention for overall race honors before mid distance after losing around 30 minutes to replace the starter motor twice but that is motor racing sometimes. It is very good for Audi to repeat our Sebring win of last year with the R10 TDI.”

•	Tom Kristensen (Audi R10 TDI #1): “We were grateful to be in the race after the accident on Thursday night – the team and mechanics worked very hard to get us to the grid. The early stages of the race looked good for us. We came to Sebring for our car to win so of course it’s disappointing to have encountered these issues. But again the mechanics got us out and up to speed so that we could fight back but unfortunately not right at the front at the finish. Apart from the starter problem, the car ran beautifully.”

•	Allan McNish (Audi R10 TDI #1): “We encountered starter problems on our car which was a shame because we were in a very strong position. But to finish 1-2 in LM P1 is still very pleasing. Our team showed a lot of strength of character to keep fighting. It’s now very clear that we have stiff competition from both Acura/Honda and Porsche – it’s going to be a tough battle with those cars.”

The Audi team finished fourth overall and second in the LM P1 class garnering high points.

A bookmark is an item that you place into a paper book to mark the place where you stopped reading. This bookmark allows you to easily return to the exact spot you were before, without having to memorize the page number.

An online bookmark serves the same purpose. When you find an internet site you want to mark for later viewing, or that you’ll want to find again, you tell your browser to set a bookmark. These are also called favorites. This bookmark allows you to return exactly to the same site again and again, without ever having to memorize the link.

What Is Social Bookmarking

You’ve been using social bookmarking, even if you didn’t know it! When you forward a funny e-mail joke or picture to a friend, that’s a form of social bookmarking. You are socially sharing a bookmark to a website with a friend. That gives your friends exposure to websites they might never find on their own. They do the same for you when they send these informal social bookmarks to you.

Social Bookmarking Sites

Social bookmarking sites began as a way for web surfers to upload and save their personal browser bookmarks online. That way, web visitors are not limited to their own computers. By saving their personal social bookmarks online, they can access them from any computer.

The social aspect of social bookmarking is that everyone else saving their personal social bookmarks to these online sites can see and use everyone else’s bookmarks! The social bookmarking site essentially becomes a giant collection of bookmarks contributed by many users.

Social Bookmarking Tags

Social bookmarking sites are built and organized by humans. However, there needs to be some kind of organization. Humans provide that too. Each social bookmark is submitted with one or more tags. A tag is nothing more than a keyword that describes the site being submitted.

If you visit a social bookmarking website looking for information on cars, you might search for the words “car,” “cars,” or “automobiles.” The bookmarks with those tags will be shown in the search results. If you are looking for a specific type of car such as a ferrari, bookmarks tagged with the word “Ferrari” will be shown. It’s that easy!

Making Money With Social Bookmarking

If you have a website that sells a product or service, why not submit that site to the major social bookmarking sites? When you submit your internet marketing site to social bookmarking sites, along with appropriate bookmarking tags, you are tapping into a huge, extremely targeted group of people looking for information – your information!

i have been looking for cars for a while and im not sure where to find a nice car in utah for a good price, like a honda prelude, or a 3000 gt etc. thanks.

http://www.craigslist.com

http://www.autotrader.com

Don’t even look at any ads from dealers. You WILL NOT get a good price.

Also check local penny saver type papers, bulletin boards, and, if applicable in your area, drive around looking for spots where people park cars with for sale signs (big-box retailer parking lots are common)

Also, the 3000GT came in only two versions: FWD-slow, and AWD-heavy-unreliable. They look good, though.

You’re looking for private-party sales. It’s easier to know the history of the car that way…carfax doesn’t tell you if a car has been abused, and often won’t tell you about maintenance. A dealer sure the fuck won’t. But you can smell a fast-and-furious ricer idiot a mile away…if you’re buying the car straight from the owner, you’ll have a better idea what kind of driver/owner they are.

Also, fuck dealers. Fuck ‘em. Add 1000 bucks, minimum, to the price of any car. That’s supposed to buy a better car, with major problems taken care of, but that’s not what they think. They think the second they take possession the value of a used car doubles, without them having to lift a finger.

Private party markets vary a lot from city to city, so without knowing what town you live in, it is impossible to say where exactly to look. The most common ways into it are park-and-sell lots, other parking lots, community bulletin boards, newspaper and penny-saver classifieds, and Craigslist.

I am planning a trip to japan in 2010 and want to know when should i go to take part in thier car events, such as race tracks and racing, can anyone help me with this???? thanks!

This depends on where you will go and which series you would like to see. From Tokyo you can probably watch races at Fuji Speedway or Twin Ring Motegi. Both tracks require either a rental car or a decent knowledge of the train and bus systems. Basically, most people can identify with the JGTC or Super GT as it is known now. If you plan well, you could go to both Sat and Sun. There are many other things going on at the track during the whole weekend. I usually go on Saturday only. That allows me to see the qualifying session for the main series and all of the support series races. Twin Ring Motegi has more to see in terms of the Honda Museum and Historical Car collection. Check the link below for the dates for the races at Twin Ring Motegi and the Super GT series.

If you like formula cars, then maybe the Formula Nippon might be your series to watch.

Fuji Speedway could be a little easier to get to from Tokyo. It still requires you to do your homework. Twin Ring Motegi is a bit harder to get to and needs homework also. Basically, it will take a few trains and some bus rides to get to either of these places from Tokyo.

If you would like to watch some of the smaller motorsports venues, such as D1 drifting, it will take much more homework and effort. Usually the D1 series hold their events on small tracks designed for karting and limited car use. These tracks are way out in the middle of nowhere.
D1 has one event that is very easy to get to from Tokyo. They hold a D1 drift event at the Fuji TV parking lot in Odaiba. The event is fun to attend, there are lots of things besides drifting going on. The event goes on into the night, and during the day they have stunt bikes, bike races, FMX, and kids kart racing.

In my opinion any and all of these events are filled with fun and excitement. Personally, since I ventrured into touring cars years ago, I enjoy the JGTC more because of the cars raced and the series history.

The crap like you see on the movies, that is all fake. One could not drift in a parking lot in Shibuya or the middle of Tokyo.

There is a midnight car scene on the C1 loop of the Shutoko. Also out in Daikokufuto, there are usually people hanging out with all sorts of classic and modern Japanese machinery. Around New Years at Daikokufuto, the Bozozoku and Yankees come out with their crazy cars and ratty sounding bikes. It is a scene.
