Ferrari is a separate company under Fiat ownership; Maserati and Alfa Romeo are run as Fiat’s sports-car group.
Ferrari and Maserati have an ongoing engine-sharing program, though each customizes the product. (Alfa Romeo, which isn’t part of the development group, uses a version of the Ferrari/Maserati V8 in the 8C Competizione.) References :
I’m pretty sure that Maserati and Ferrari engineers aren’t proud of what FIAT produces; so if they do work for FIAT they don’t tell anybody. References :
