I want to get into Car Racing. Is there any suggestions about how I should start?

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

I am sixteen, and know cars off the back of my hand. My dream is to drive and race cars. I wanted to know how to get to the top. I want to know how I should start off and where I could go. Thankyou.

Karting. I raced 125cc gearbox karts, they are fast good for 120mph o-60 in 2.5 sec.

If you want to realy do it it will cost you money, Karting is expensive, My Kart cost me £5000. It can lead to car racing or single seaters but it will cost cost cost. I had a go in a Formula Audi single seater and it cost me a grand just for a days testing and they wanted 60 grand to race for them for a season. I know to lads that are in car racing but they also had the big bank accounts, they were Good to but the was better.

I would say though try gearbox karting minimum age to race is 16 they are fast and it realy teaches you how a single seater would handle, when I Had ago in the formula Audi it was like driving a faster Kart. If you are good and have a bit of money you could make it into cars or single seaters. just dont expect it to happen over night.

Hope I have helped answer your question. google 125cc gearbox karts and see what comes up.

Gm CEO Rick Wagoner Attends Urban Youth Racing School’s Annual Dinner

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

The Philly-based Urban Youth Racing School that promotes careers in motorsports for city kids through the school’s board chairman James Farmer has invited General Motors CEO Rick Wagoner for its 8th annual dinner last night.

Anthony Martin, the founder of the Urban Youth Racing School was so thrilled to know that Rick Wagoner would join their 8th annual dinner celebration and even narrated the time when he saw GM’s CEO. It was last January at Detroit while accepting a diversity-in-motor-sports award he spotted a famous face, “Rick Wagoner, the Chairman and CEO of General Motors, was sitting in the crowd. I don’t think that he knew that he supported our program. When I accepted the award, ‘I said, I’d like to thank General Motors for their support’ and then I saw him smile. He was stunned.”

Wagoner speak before a crowd comprising of more than 500 students and famous racers at a ‘Build a Dream’ awards dinner at the Sheraton Society Hill in which he encouraged students to pursue their dreams.

Joining Wagoner at the dinner was NASCAR president Mike Helton. According to Martin having both Helton and Wagoner at the dinner “will open a lot of eyes around the country about how big our organization really is and how much support we get.”

Even Mike Helton, NASCAR President has praised Rick Wagoner for attending the dinner. He said, “For Rick Wagoner to take time to come here speaks volumes…this is a great model for other urban markets to look at.” The presence of the General Motors at the 8th annual dinner provided by the Urban Youth Racing School signifies the humility that the world’s largest automaker possesses despite its global standing. General Motors is renowned worldwide for its line of auto brands (Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Daewoo, Holden, Hummer, Opel, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn and Vauxhall) and quality auto parts like GM tail light.

The first branch of the Urban Youth Racing School opened last year in Washington D.C. Although there are still no Urban Youth drivers who are skilled enough to race in any of the NASCAR’s top three series namely: Nextel Cup, Bush and Craftsman Truck but the school serves as a training ground for those aspiring youngsters who would one day wants to be able to race on the professional league.

Martin said, “The NASCAR teams have embraced us. Our kids have had internships. It’s feasible that some of them will get to NASCAR.”

Mike Helton has also given some inspirational speech to boost the spirit of young aspiring NASCAR drivers, “Our effort is to tell the NASCAR story wherever we can tell it. You don’t drive by schools and see racetracks. You see soccer, baseball, and football fields and gymnasiums. We have to be about creating more opportunity. If NASCAR has interest to someone and they say, ‘That’s neat; I’d like to do that,’ that next step is a big step.”

But of course aside from racing the Urban Youth Drivers are also encouraged to finish college. As a fact, one of the Urban Youth drivers Lamott Ebron, 19, a Simon Gratz High School senior, plans to attend Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C. Ebron said, “My goal is to get into fabrication or building cars. Last summer, I interned at Hendrick Motorsports. I started at the very bottom, cleaning the haulers that carry the race cars and dry cleaning. I worked my way up.”

There are students also at the Urban Youth Racing School who are focused on racing just like Kyle Baker, age 16, who is thinking Formula One. He is currently a student at Philadelphia Electrical & Technology Charter High School. He was also given the opportunity to drive a Formula 3 race car in Monterey California.

Likewise, brothers Johnny and Jeremy Ortiz are also thinking Formula One or Nextel Cup. Jeremy is a student at Carver High School of Engineering and Science while his brother Johnny is a student at Abraham Lincoln High.

To grace the 8th annual dinner of the Urban Youth Racing School were Cup drivers Kyle Busch and Casey Mears, together with Oakland Raiders receiver Randy Moss who Martin said is getting involved in racing.

Golf Gt Tsi to Debut at Britain’s Volkswagen Racing Cup

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Britain’s Volkswagen Racing Cup will be the stage for the motorsport world debut of the Golf GT equipped with the pioneering TSI supercharged and turbocharged engine.

The Golf’s GT’s 1.4 liter, 16-valve engine revs up 170 PS however the engineers at Volkswagen Racing UK thinks that its not powerful enough and so with the help of their technology partners at Superchips, Miltek Sport and Turbo Dynamics they were able to boost the GT’s power to an astonishing 230 PS. The engineers said that they plan to further increase the power of the GT in months to come.

The Golf GT TSI has made its first public debut in the Hankook-backed championship’s opening rounds at Oulton Park in Cheshire last April 9, 2007. Nick Trott a freelance motoring journalist was the lucky individual that was given the opportunity to drive the GT at the Oulton.

Trott, age 32, was so excited by the prospect of driving the GT TSI on its world motorsport debut. He said, ‘The power to weight ratio is excellent and the package promises a lot – I only hope I can do the car justice!”

According to Volkswagen Racing UK Director Sam Roach, “We are pulling out all the stops to get the Golf to Oulton. It’s been a major technological exercise to prepare this sophisticated power unit for racing and our partners have provided massive support and expertise. To be able to extract 230 PS from a 1.4-litre engine is a major achievement.”

It was not the first time that Volkswagen Racing UK has awed the world with its powerful machines on the track. It can be remembered that in the year 2002 the team drove a turbodiesel into the victory lane which is a first for the UK and likewise in recent seasons it has given the new Golf GTI and Polo GTI their world racing debuts.

The Golf GTI TSI is one of the most ambitious projects that the team has ever undertaken. The TSI features an engine-driven supercharger and an exhaust gas turbocharger, arranged in series. The supercharger operates at a lower engine while the turbo cuts in as power increases resulting to optimum drivability and performance throughout the rev range without the turbo lag and high maximum torque.

Golf GT TSI in keeping with the long quality tradition of Volkswagen is equipped with high quality car components starting from its huge complex parts down to parts like the VW window switch. Every auto parts that the GT TSI has are designed to enhance performance and power. The Golf GT TSI power unit was awarded as Best New Engine of 2006 in the International Engine of the Year Awards.

The Volkswagen Racing Cup is the perfect venue to showcase the powerful new Golf GT TSI. It is also the only saloon car supporting event to the prestigious British Formula 3 and British GT Championships and features 12 races at six weekend events on the UK’s top circuits. All races are broadcasted on the Sky Sport channel.

Aromatic, Soothing Experience – in your Car

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Car enthusiasts can now experience the aroma and the ‘no noise concept’ in today’s automobiles.

Friction occurs once the car starts to move. Normally, friction causes nose. As an aftermath, an unpleasant odor will follow. This is most inevitable in car racing. But nothing is impossible in today’s era.

Enter the scented tires.

As the result of a year’s research and the use heat resistant oils to stay smelling sweet, the Kumho Ecsta DX Aroma, as its last name suggests, doesn’t smell like regular black rubber. The first tire scent to be sold will be lavender, with orange and jasmine scents to come later.

Reports say that Kumho’s target market is the circle of female car enthusiasts, as they prefer stress free experience while driving.

Speaking of stress, to reduce it, and avoid noise pollution, the Silent Majority in New York campaigns against the city life’s worst aspect: the car alarm. Armed with these devices, anxious car owners rouse sleepers, disturb readers, interrupt conversations, and send disgusted citizens to the suburbs. And yet, despite the sound and fury, car alarms do nothing whatever to prevent car theft. Nothing.

Also, another source of noise one could do without is the one coming from the car’s exhaust system. Car owners can avoid this unwanted noise by installing a Flow master muffler .

The flow master muffler is a device designed to reduce the noise from the exhaust of an internal-combustion engine. When the exhaust gases from an internal-combustion engine are released directly into the atmosphere, they create a loud noise, caused by the passage of the exhaust gases from the high pressure of the cylinder to the normal pressure of the atmosphere. To eliminate or tone down the noise, the gases are led through a pipe to a muffler. Typically a muffler consists of a tubular metal jacket containing perforated pipes and chambers through which the exhaust gases flow before entering the atmosphere. The pipes and chambers are arranged so that the noise from the exhaust gases is reflected back toward the engine or back and forth among the chambers, reducing greatly the amount of noise that is radiated into the environment.

The free-flowing Flow master mufflers do not only sound great, they actually reduce back pressure and enhance performance, making it noise and stress free.

The Best Advice on Cars is on Car Blogs

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

The increasing and continual development of technology has led to the tremendous importance that the Internet holds today. Other media like television or newspapers still have their share, but the Internet is gaining on them as we speak. The Internet is unlimited as far as space is concerned. People from all over the world have access to any type of information, and they can find just about anything that crosses their minds. The Internet is growing into a more and more reliable source of information and it’s expanding in its every aspect.

The same ascendant trajectory is experienced by blogs, which are websites generated by users, whose entries are shown in reverse chronological order and in journal style. Most blogs offer comments or the latest news on a particular topic, which can vary from food to politics. Other blogs appear to be rather personal diaries than actual news websites, but the usefulness of personal experience is not to be neglected. From the very beginning, most blogs gave readers the possibility to leave their comments, which is very important for those interested in what others have to say on a certain matter.

The typical blog is a combination of text and images, and it also offers links to similar blogs or websites, or even to other media which may be related to that particular topic. Although most blogs are textual, there are some blogs which focus on video and photographs. This is all the more useful when you need to actually see what you are talking about. A good example is a car blog. What would a car blog be without any pictures of cars or short videos showing car performance. A car blog can be very useful for all categories of people, from those mad about cars to people simply interested in car maintenance, for instance.

An automotive blog, like most other blogs, is the perfect medium for news dissemination. A car blog will help in bringing important information to the public’s eye, the kind of information that big companies consider it’s best kept unrevealed. Automotive blogs have gained credibility, by showing that the information they present is accurate, especially when the mainstream media follows the lead of such bloggers. However, more often than not, it’s the other way around. It is the material published by such media that an automotive blog presenting car news tends to react to.

An automotive blog is concerned with everything related to cars. Whatever a car maniac might think of is right there, on a car blog. And the best part is yet to come. Not only can car enthusiasts access a car blog with the purpose of finding the latest news about cars, but they can also have their own input to the content of that particular automotive blog.

A typical car blog focuses on the latest news from the world of automobiles, because this is what readers are mainly interested in. However, the variety the information provided by an automotive blog exceeds just about any expectation, as it goes from car maintenance, diesel cars, fuel efficiency, car modifications to racing or observing the automotive industry, and many other related topics.
